br£&k

Having just observed the 2 week "Easter" break enforced by the local schools, I now find myself having the opportunity to work on Tump related content once again.

I have just completed an hour long mix of vinyl records for DARK TRAIN WCR which will be aired soon - watch this space for a bunch of electro, techno and electronic oddities blended together with added field recordings.  The mix is called "Last Train To Reading Central".

It was great fun to put together and gave me a chance to play some tracks that wouldn't make it to my Tump Clump show. So many thanks to Kate for the opportunity and I shall post the full tracklisting up on the blog soon - although if you have keen eyes you might be able to figure out from the photo above what way played....

Speaking of Tump Clump... Episode 13 is ready to go, hitting the airwaves on 3rd May (which will be the first anniversary show, huzzah) - more about that in the next post.

I am also working on a split release with DISTRAXI which is coming together nicely, and there are a couple of other projects in the embryonic stages that I don't want to talk about just yet.

Still got some zines left to flog / trade / barter if you want one?  Copies are now with Electric Knife distro in the UK, Scream & Writhe in Canada, and you might just also find a copy floating around at Cafe Oto in London if you are lucky.

Intrusive Signals #3 [correction]

 In my recent interview with CHLORINE, it was mentioned that he had

    "heard TQ is calling it a day soon though so that's sad"

Well, that would indeed be very sad..... if it were true!

Fear ye not, as Andy TQ himself has confirmed that

    "I can only think he was talking about the TQN-aut label which was a completely different entity. The label has closed but the zine goes from strength to strength."

 So that is indeed some excellent reassurance on a Monday morning.  The latest issue (#52) has a great interview with Colin Morrison from the Castles In Space label, amongst many other quality articles.

You can check out the TQ blogspot website HERE and also find all of the archival TQN-aut releases HERE which are available as FREE downloads so fill your boots! From the extensive (and varied) catalogue of releases I can recommend:

Terrotorial Gobbing vs Derek Piotr
Vol by Claude & Ola
Red Team by Red Team
Another Forever Tomorrow by Posset
S.T.E.M by Pettaluck

TQ have been very supportive of my zine endeavours over the years, from the early incarnations of Snare Rush, printing a couple of my articles (including the BUZZING MINDS interview which appeared in the 22/23 double issue) and generally being an excellent source of inspiration and knowledge for seeking out new sounds.

So... apologies again for any mix up!

The Tump Clump Episode 12 - LIVE (again)!

Last month I put a call out to my network of musical contacts to see if I could get any demos / live / exclusive / archival / unheard gems... and well, the good people delivered anf I filled up Episode 11,

I was really blown away by the amount of submissions I receive, and so I have filled up episode 12 too.  And there may even be more next time - the 1st anniversary of my show - episode 13.  A year with SoundArt radio already, what a wonderful place.

I quite enjoy playing these longer tracks.  As I mention in the show, much less of me talking... which is probably a good thing for you listeners.

//////////

1. A Beautiful Idea - I Drone Therefore I Am
From David "Vital Things Podcast" Barr, an exclusive longform oscillatory drone that gets quite noisy at the end.  Wonderful stuff.  Some of my own tracks have been played on Vital Things in the past, so it is nice to finally repay the favour.

2. Don Macarel's Noisy Party - Song For Radio
Can I say who sent me this? Ummm... maybe.  But I won't, because that is more fun.  Blistering hot vinyl samples through vintage mixer.  Screech!

3. Ivy Nostrum - When We Dead Awaken
I have played a track by London's Ivy Nostrum before, under the Wellness Regime tag alongside Kinver Pond.  This track is perfectly Tump Clump - dismal, rhythmic, noisy and unpredictable....  recorded just for the show.  Thank you!

4. Ekoplekz - Drek 1
Last time I played Drek 4.  Nick Ekoplekz sent me 6 Drek tracks in total, which was very kind of him.  I have been a big fan over the past decade.  The Memowrekz double cassette release (which sadly I only have on digital, but it's a glorious dark industrial dirge).  Anyways... these Dreks are all quite quirky, one take experiments.  Maybe I'll play more in the future. Who knows.

5. COLDSORE - Drossel
Coldsore lives in Finland.  He sent me 2 tracks that were in the demo stages, and I played the other one Drosseln last month.  This track is an extended drone with evolving elements and field recordings throughout.  Brilliance.  Both appear in a remastered / altered state in a new split release alongside There Are No Birds Here, so check that out.

6. Sunfish Starfish - Live At Control Voltage 13
And to finish with, a 13 minute live recording from Sunfish Starfish, recording at the Control Voltage Event which is held at the Focal Point Gallery in Southend on Sea.  This is a collaborative project from Pettaluck (who had the opening track on the recent "Half Century All Heart" compilation from TQ Zine, released for Issue 50, amazing stuff!) and The Spermaceti Organ.  You can find their collaborative album here.

Thank you for the contributions! All excellent.  Still a few more to play, which will spill over into next months show...

April Showers

It's April already!

And so, a quick update.... as it seems a lot of stuff has happened over the past couple of weeks and I failed a bit to keep this place up to date for one reason or another. ....

////////////////////////////

Intrusive Signal's issue 3 is with me and copies are "flying" out (I guess...)//// it's had a healthy support amongst the wonderful regular readers of my zines as well as some new supporters too.  Which is always good to see.

You can also find limited reprint copies of issue 1 at both links below....

>>>> LINKY FOR BANDCAMP <<<<

>>>> LINKY FOR LIMITEDRUN <<<<

And I do have a couple of copies of both available for free in the UK if anybody would like one.  Just send me a message.  And of course, trades are most welcome too.

////////////////////////////

My harsh noise alter ego POSTMAN LOMU created a track for the MONOLITHIC BLOCKS compilation out via the French label Camembert Électrique which was released this week.

Many thanks to them for including my track, and it sits at Track 22 out of an impressive 85 entries in the roster.  I am slowly making my way through it all, an impressive range of interpretations of the harsh / experimental spectrum indeed.  It's free to purchase / download so give it a go, although of course any contributions you make to the label would be greatly welcomed I am sure....

And also... my set for Wonder Valley Experimental, in collaboration with visual artist Arachnopus, is now up on Youtube.  Thanks to Phog Masheen for including my set, and I must say that all of the other sets on the festival are well worthy of your time too.  Some great variety in there, and it's an honour for my dismal racket to be played.  Trigger warning for flashing images....

You can see it >>>>> HERE <<<<

Tump Clump Episode 12 is up next week, with some more live / exclusive / archival / unheard / demo tracks... so I shall post about that soon.

Cheers one and all
